Thai culture and religion are inseparable. Apart from Buddhism, Taiwanese people may have heard of Hindu deities such as Ganesha and Brahma. These diverse religious landscapes today, can be traced back to the time before the word “Siam” came into existence. Before 13th century, there were many polities and kingdoms within Thailand, such as “Dvaravati” in central Thailand; “Srivijaya,” who dominated the maritime world; and the “Khmer,” who were so powerful that they ruled most of the Indochina Peninsula. These important ancient civilisations were the cornerstones of the diverse religious culture of present-day Thailand.
